Unlocked iPhone 3GS now available in Hong Kong

The Apple Store in Hong Kong is now has the iPhone 3GS in its price lists.

Why is this news?
Because only Hong Kong offers the iPhone without any carrier lock. This means that you can buy one and plug in your Smart or Sun sim card and have it work right away.


Apple Store HK says: iPhone 3G & iPhone 3GS purchased at the Apple Online Store can be activated with any wireless carrier. Simply insert the SIM from your current phone into iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS and connect to iTunes 8.2 to complete activation.

Globe's sim runs just fine too, and the iPhone is carrier locked to Globe in the Philippines. It's also notable that Globe's prices are higher, for a locked prepaid kit.
